Suramérica: Departamentos, Estados y Regiones.

Después de 6 años+ de investigación, YAPO Project lanza dos ediciones de su nuevo mapa Suramérica: Departamentos, Estados y Regiones. Ilustrada a mano por los diseñadores gráficos Sergio Ramírez y Pancho Gálvez, esta serie sigue la misma preocupación por imaginar una representación tipográfica del territorio, pero esta vez a nivel regional.
La propuesta contiene varios propósitos: no considerar las divisiones tradicionales del territorio, desplegar el panorama amplio de la ocupación del paisaje, y develar las diversas historias que se han forjado durante los siglos a través del nombramiento del paisaje.
Se complementó este mapa con una expresión geográfica que tomó mucha importancia en la composición del afiche final que son las principales redes fluviales del continente, junto a lagos y salares: el Amazonas, el Orinoco, El Río de la Plata. Estas divisiones son una parte importante de la organización terriorial de cada país, toma en cuenta o está hecha en función de los cursos de agua. * Se decidió producir dos ediciones: una centrada en la nomenclatura histórica y otro que permitía completarla con la división natural más importante sobre la cual América del Sur se ha estructurado.

After 6 years+ of research, YAPO Project launches two editions of its new map South America: Departments, States and Regions. Hand illustrated by graphic designers Sergio Ramirez and Pancho Galvez, this series follows the same concern for imagining a typographic representation of the territory, but this time at a regional level.
The proposal contains several aims: not to consider the traditional divisions of the territory, to unfold the broad panorama of the occupation of the landscape, and to reveal the diverse histories that have been forged over the centuries through the naming of the landscape.
This map was complemented with a geographical expression that placed much importance on the composition of the final poster: the main river networks of the continent, along with lakes and salt flats including the Amazon, the Orinoco, and the Rio de la Plata. These divisions are an important part of the territorial organization of each country, taking into account or made according to the water courses.
It was decided to produce two editions: one centered on the historical nomenclature and another that allowed to complete it with the most important natural division on which South America, that of water.
